Bookkeeping in Xero and QuickBooks Online
We keep the books in Xero or in QuickBooks Online for owner-operated trades, safety, engineering and creative businesses in British Columbia and Alberta. Reeve Business Solutions Inc. is not a CPA firm.
What is included
Monthly, quoted in writing
Monthly work is quoted in writing for your actual volume. The quote is built from volume and complexity: transaction volume, the number of bank and card accounts, sales tax (GST only in Alberta; GST plus PST in BC), receivables and payables work, and the reporting level you need.
How it starts
No books are examined before a deposit is paid. The first billable step is a paid, fixed-fee exploration of your records, and it produces a written finding and a scoped quote. To arrange it, book a free 20-minute call or email [email protected].
The first look is paid because examining a set of books to find out how bad they are is the skilled part of the job. Giving it away makes the hardest hour of the engagement the unpaid one.
If your books need cleanup (catch-up) work, it is quoted as a fixed project, from the exploration, never before it.
Xero or QuickBooks Online
We keep books in Xero and in QuickBooks Online. If yours are in QuickBooks Online, we can work there. If you would rather be in Xero, we convert them to Xero.
We do not publish a price for the conversion; ask about it when you arrange the exploration.

What it costs
Onboarding and setup is a one-time fee. Monthly bookkeeping is a flat fee set by your actual volume and capped in writing, from the paid exploration. Both are quoted in writing before work starts.
What this is not
- Not an audit, a review or any other assurance engagement. The books are compiled and unaudited, and no opinion or assurance is expressed on the financial information produced.
- Not a way to detect fraud, error or misappropriation, because the work is based on the records you provide.
- Not tax, legal, assurance or investment advice.
- Not income tax preparation. We do not prepare corporate or personal income tax returns.

How do I send documents?
Through the secure document folder set up during onboarding.
Please do not send a Social Insurance Number, bank or card numbers, business or registration numbers, a status card number, passwords or identity documents. We keep only a reference to where such a document sits, never the number.
How are invoices paid?
Invoices are issued from Xero and paid online.
What happens at year end?
We do not prepare corporate or personal income tax returns. Income tax filing is referred to an independent CPA, who bills you directly.
