How we hire
Four steps. No surprises.
The same process for every role, written down so you know where you stand at each step.
The steps
Your note
Register your interest with a short note: the area you want to work in, where you are based, and an account of your work or a link to your profile. No cover letter, no form longer than a minute.
A call within two weeks
If there is a fit with a role that is open or opening, Brendan books a 20-minute video call with you within two weeks of your note. If there is not, you hear that within two weeks too.
A short exercise
A made-up scenario in your area, under an hour, done in your own time. It is never real client work and never used by the firm. We talk it through together on a second call.
An offer in writing
Role, pay, whether the role is employment or a contract, hours and start date, in writing. Nothing is agreed until it is written, and you have a week to consider it.
What we look for
Careful, honest, and able to say "I do not know yet."
- You read the source before you repeat a claim.
- You would rather tell a client no today than yes and be wrong next month.
- You keep records other people can follow.
- You are comfortable working with AI tools, and clear about where their output needs checking.
- You live in British Columbia or Alberta, or plan to.
What we will not do
Things you will not be asked for.
- Unpaid work on a real client file, at any stage.
- A Social Insurance Number, banking details or identity documents before an offer is accepted.
- References before you know there is an offer coming.
- A decision from you in under a week.
Accommodation
If you need an adjustment at any step, such as more time, a different format for the exercise, or a call instead of video, say so in your note or at any point after. We will work with you to provide it, and it has no bearing on the decision.
Step one
Send the note.
A few lines is enough. We reply within two weeks either way.
